Double concert: Jan Bang / Ensemble Modern + Jan Bang / Melt Trio

Museum Angewandt Kunst, Schaumainkai 17, Frankfurt

Since its formation in 1980, the Ensemble Modern has been one of the leading ensembles for new music. It brings together around 20 soloists from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Japan, the USA and Switzerland, whose origins form the cultural background of the formation. The ensemble based in Frankfurt am Main is known for its unique way of working and grassroots democratic organization. Its unmistakable programmatic range includes music theater, dance and video projects, chamber music, ensemble and orchestra concerts.

The Berlin Melt Trio, consisting of Peter Meyer (guitar, electronics), Bernhard Meyer (bass) and Moritz Baumgärtner (drums), tells stories with its contemporary guitar jazz sound and creates something new with every performance. The band subtly combines acoustic and electronic sounds. Their music combines influences from jazz, classical modern, prog and post-rock, ultimately creating the Melt Trio’s unmistakable sound. Jan Bang is a Norwegian musician and producer. As a music innovator and bridge builder, he is always on the lookout for opportunities to move music and people and to create new meeting points and musical overlaps. Bang is a professor of electronic music at the University of Agder, Norway.
